-IP Version 4 – 32 bit addressing
-IP Version 6 –128 bit addressing

CLASS A
CLASS B
CLASS C
CLASS D
CLASS E
NOTE:-
- CLASS A, CLASS B & CLASS C is used in LAN and WAN
- CLASS D is used in Multicasting
- CLASS E is used in Research and Development
Class Ranges:-
CLASS A Range
0.0.0.0 to 127.255.255.255
CLASS b Range
128.0.0.0 to 191.255.255.255
CLASS C Range
192.0.0.0 to 223.255.255.255
CLASS D Range
224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255
CLASS E Range
240.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255
Octet Formats:-
CLASS A is written as N.H.H.H
CLASS B is written as N.N.H.H
CLASS C is written as N.N.N.H
Private and Public IP Address:-
Private IP Address
- CLASS A 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255
- CLASS B 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255
- CLASS C 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255
Public IP Address
-Apart from the above specified IP addresses all other IP address are Public IP’s
NOTE:-
-To communicate with other system the network ID should be same
E.g:- Right method (192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.55)
Wrong method (192.168.1.0 to 192.168.2.55)
